This template is built around PIPEDA (Canada's federal private-sector privacy law) on the assumption the controlling entity is Canadian. Because NeuroRise runs programmes and workshops with participants and partner institutions across multiple countries (e.g., the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, China, UAE), have counsel confirm whether GDPR (for EU/EEA participants) or other local laws also apply and require additions — for example, an EU representative, a lawful-basis table, or specific cross-border transfer language.

NeuroRise (“NeuroRise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information through https://www.neurorise.info (the “Site”) and in connection with our leadership development, coaching, team science, and organisational consulting services (the “Services”). This Policy is intended to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian privacy law, and is supplemented as needed for participants located in other jurisdictions.

1. Personal Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with the Site or our Services, we may collect:

•         Contact information: name, email address, phone number, organisation/employer, job title, and country.

•         Inquiry and registration details: the content of messages submitted through our contact form or email, including programme or workshop interest, institutional context, and scheduling preferences.

•         Professional and programme participation information: where relevant to a leadership programme, coaching relationship, or workshop, your professional credentials, institutional affiliation, role, and information you share during coaching sessions, workshops, or programme activities (for example, in the Future Stroke Leaders Workshops or other faculty-led programmes).

•         Technical and usage information: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URLs, and approximate location, typically collected automatically through cookies, analytics, and similar technologies, including from embedded LinkedIn and YouTube content.

•         Newsletter/subscription information: email address and communication preferences, if you opt in to updates on research or programmes.

We do not seek to collect personal health information (PHI) of identifiable patients through the Site or our Services. Our Services are directed at clinicians, healthcare leaders, and healthcare organisations in their professional and leadership capacity, not at their individual patients.

2. How We Collect Information

We collect personal information:

•         directly from you, when you fill out the contact form, send an email, or otherwise contact us;

•         automatically, through cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies when you browse the Site, including via embedded third-party content (LinkedIn, YouTube);

•         from third parties, such as a healthcare institution, professional society (for example, the World Stroke Organization), or partner organisation that engages NeuroRise for a programme and provides relevant contact or participant information in that context.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to:

•         respond to inquiries and process registrations for programmes, workshops, or coaching engagements;

•         provide, manage, and improve our Services, including delivering coaching sessions, leadership programmes, and workshops;

•         send newsletters, research updates, or other communications you have opted into;

•         maintain the security, performance, and functionality of the Site;

•         comply with legal, regulatory, or contractual obligations, including those owed to partner institutions or sponsoring organisations for a given programme;

•         understand how visitors use the Site, in aggregate or de-identified form, to improve content and user experience.

We do not use personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.

4. Cookies and Analytics

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies (such as Google Analytics) to understand Site usage and improve content. The Site also embeds content from LinkedIn and YouTube; these third parties may set their own cookies when their embedded content loads or is played, governed by their own privacy policies. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; doing so may affect some Site functionality.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share personal information with:

•         service providers who help us operate the Site or deliver Services (e.g., web hosting, email/newsletter platforms, scheduling tools, IT support, video-conferencing for virtual coaching or workshops), under contractual confidentiality obligations;

•         professional advisors (legal, accounting) where necessary;

•         co-facilitators, faculty, or partner organisations involved in delivering a specific programme or workshop (for example, a co-sponsoring institution or professional society), strictly as needed to deliver that programme and as you would reasonably expect from your participation;

•         regulators or authorities where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of NeuroRise or others;

•         a successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, subject to equivalent privacy protections.

6. Where Information Is Stored and Processed

Personal information collected through the Site is primarily stored and processed in Ontario, Canada. Because NeuroRise delivers programmes and workshops internationally, information may also be processed in the country where a given programme is held or by a partner organisation involved in that programme. Where service providers or partners are located outside Canada, your information may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including potential access by foreign authorities. We take reasonable steps to ensure third-party providers offer a comparable level of protection through contractual safeguards.

7. Retention

We may retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, including to satisfy legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. General inquiry and contact information is generally retained for 3 years, unless a longer period is required for an active consulting engagement, legal obligation, or dispute.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you may:

•         request access to the personal information we hold about you;

•         request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;

•         withdraw consent to certain uses of your information (e.g., unsubscribe from newsletters), subject to legal or contractual restrictions;

•         ask us questions about how your information is handled, or file a complaint.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 12 below. We will respond within the timelines required by PIPEDA. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for healthcare professionals, institutions, and other adult visitors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

11. Third-Party Links

The Site may link to third-party websites (e.g., academic journals, conference pages, partner organizations). This Policy does not apply to those third-party sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy practices separately.
